Choir

Friday evening we joined the congregation for a home-grown concert.  Members of the congregation gathered in the sanctuary to sing sets. We had no idea what to expect.  Would it be largely classical-style hymnody?  Praise and worship choruses?  Southern gospel?

LK and I were amazed at the talent in this little congregation.  A mother and her two daughters who harmonize like a trio of angels.  Three friends who have been singing together since they were little girls. Teens who play guitar beautifully and accompany their mom on the harmonica to "Heart of Gold".  An organist that reminds me of my Nan, elegant and petite, and can play a mean gospel hymn.

Even more we were amazed at how much fun all the musicians were having.  The sanctuary rang with laughter and fun.  Encouragement was offered to every participant.  Neither of us could remember that last time we were around musicians having that much fun.  It was contagious.

So this morning we took up the invitation to participate in the choir anthem (even taking up the offer to sing solo verses each).  It was a little taste of heaven.

We continue to marvel at one another each time we walk out of this body how warm and gracious this little group of people has been to us.  It is inspiration to share more hospitality with others in our little community on the reserve as well.

Sounds like you've "come home" after being out there all this time.
