Not Finished Yet

We spent a good portion of this winter and early spring with big plans to be moving this summer.  We got far enough in those plans to make an offer on a house.  Said house was purchased by another lucky soul (much to our chagrin).  After two other house tours and daily online searches we are no further ahead in the hunt for a home of our own.

Being the teacher with an OTC and a whack of experience, I was elected to look for work close to where the Sprouts were to be in school.  We got far enough in those plans to submit multiple resumes for job positions.  Said positions were filled by other lucky souls (to my dropping confidence).  After daily online searching and conferring with every soul who I know locally that hunt is also no further ahead.

We are wondering what is wrong with us... or if God isn't finished with us here yet.

We now have a summer with no plans (as the moving seems to be off the table in God's plan).  And we have contracts here waiting to be signed for next year as well as people here encouraging us rather strongly to stay.  We are not sure what to do.

Perhaps we should just plant sunflowers, go fishing, and teach the Sprouts to paddle canoes.  And there is a poison ivy patch that needs eradicating...

More prayer required for clarity of direction and peace with God's purpose.

Integrated

I came home from doing the grocery run in town this afternoon to a crate-less kitchen and a missing baby-gate.

The crate and the gate were for the puppy, to restrict  her to safe zones in the house when she can't be supervised by people.  All the "How to Raise the Perfect Dog"  books tell you that you need safe zones for the dog.  And anyone who knows us knows that we are all about doing things the 'right'
way.

However, she doesn't use the crate anymore to sleep in.  She prefers an area rug in whichever room the people are.  If it is nighttime and the people are all upstairs sleeping, she has taken to sleeping on the bottom steps.  I don't have the heart to create her when we are at work.  And she behaves beautifully when we are away; only having chewed one item in the house ever.

The gate has proven useless as she jumps it effortlessly.  We have come home to a puppy gated into the living room rather than the kitchen, where she was left, every time we leave her inside the house.  So, instead of the gate we make sure the upstairs doors are all carefully closed.

But mostly she stays outside when we are away.  She parks herself on the front porch waiting for us.  And her greetings always make coming home welcoming.

It seems the dog has integrated herself fully into the family.
