Fireworks are truly an amazing feat of science. Bursts of brilliant colour fill the sky like flaming chrysanthemums. But even more incredible is the timeless beauty and faithful testament of Orion standing above the showy flowers of light in the sky. Although less flashy than fireworks, stars stop me in my tracks with awe at the incredible attention to detail that is God's creative hand.
The Winter Carnival is this weekend in Grassy. There was a ten minute display of fireworks over the lake at 9:45 last night. It was gorgeous. LK camped out in the snow to get a few shots (crazy-dedicated to his hobby), but I watched them through our bedroom window while snuggled up in jammies and robe. The kids slept right through them.
Today the lake is covered with up-side-down pails and ice-fishermen (the pails are their seats). The festivities wrap up with a wiener roast after the fishing derby is done. It was great to drive by the pow-wow grounds and watch a big piece of the community out on the ice together. We are going to head over after Jo wakes up from his nap.
Each morning has opened with a pancake breakfast. Fi and I went on Friday morning. School was cancelled so that students could participate in the Carnival. Staff were either at the Carnival of working until noon. Hard life!
I think we are getting used to this life. The view and privacy are beyond fathoming anywhere else. The lack of pressure and 'keeping-up' with neighbours is blissful. The only thing that we could wish for is a family with kids close to our kids age to be friends with. We miss our "TO" family still every day. The good news is (as Fiona would say) summer is only 12 weeks away! That is just weird to say with snow still on the ground everywhere.
